San Isidro is an up-market, residential suburb of Buenos Aires with leafy cobbled streets and an attractive colonial-style centre. The city’s Hippodrome is one of Argentina's most renowned racecourses, and there are also numerous yacht clubs and golf courses that add to the picturesque surroundings.
The nightlife offers a wide choice of restaurants, and there are a number of multi-cinema centres, as well as large shopping malls and entertainment parks.
A 30 minute train ride on a very efficient railway service takes you to Buenos Aires.
The School
The school is part of International House World Organisation, like our schools in Spain.
It, too, has the same reputation for its quality teaching. The San Isidro school was founded in 1989 and has grown to be one of the most respected schools in Buenos Aires. It is known, not only for its excellent teaching, but also for its innovative projects and the attention the staff give the students.
Social Programme
The Spanish teachers believe that learning the language is not only being exposed to grammar and vocabulary in the classroom, but also practising and exploring the language. To make sure this happens, the Spanish department organises a varied programme of social activities and outings.
This includes :

• guided tours of Buenos Aires
• conversation exchange evenings with Argentine students studying English
• guided tours and walks around the city
• weekends exploring the Delta Nature Reserve, accompanied by friendly guides
• A "walk and talk" weekend package in the Cordoba Hills where students will enjoy practising their Spanish.
Accommodation
Being in an affluent area, accommodation with friendly Argentine host families can be arranged within walking distance of the school. These homes are extremely comfortable and offer single rooms, some with private bathroom, on a bed and breakfast or half-board basis.
The school can also arrange accommodation with a selection of hotels and hostels in the area, or in the city of Buenos Aires.
