Newcastle upon Tyne is a lively city in the North East of England, with a top university and excellent entertainment and cultural facilities. It has won a string of awards for its nightlife, architecture and arts and culture.
It has been voted the best city destination in England, while the American travel experts, Weissman Travel, voted it the eighth best party city in the world.
It is ideally situated close to some of England's top tourist destinations. It is only 15 minutes from Durham and its much visited cathedral and only eighty miles from Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh. The glorious medieval castle of Alnwick, which was used as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, is just 25 minutes away.
Newcastle can be reached easily with direct flights from many European cities, and London is less than a three-hour train ride away.
