Bristol is a great place to study English.

It's friendly and safe with lots to do in your free time. The city is the cultural and commercial capital of South West England.

It's the home of many financial and high technology companies and has two very popular universities. As well as great shopping, there are hundreds of pubs and clubs, lots of restaurants, museums, cinemas and parks.

If you like music or sport, then Bristol is ideal for you: there are rock, jazz and classical concerts every week, and for sports fans there are two football teams, a rugby club, and plenty of other sports and gym facilities.

Bristol is well located at the centre of some of the most popular tourist destinations in the south of England: Bath, Oxford, Cardiff, Stonehenge and Stratford-on-Avon are all close, and London is just 90 minutes away by train.

There are good flight connections from many European cities and there is good coach or train transport from Gatwick, Heathrow and London.

The School

The school opened in 1987, and thousands of students from many different countries have improved their English there since then.

It is friendly, professional and welcoming, so you'll learn without stress. You will have everything you need to succeed: comfortable classrooms, a great study room with listening facilities, a computer room with free email and internet, and a students' room, including computers, where you can relax and talk to friends.

The school is housed in a beautiful old building in the historic area of Bristol close to shops, restaurants, bars, and the university.

Methods

  • You'll make quick progress with interactive methods. You'll study over 100 useful words and phrases every week.
  • You'll speak more naturally, more fluently and with more confidence from your first lesson.
  • The English you'll learn is REAL English - from newspapers and magazines, conversation, TV and radio. You'll learn the English you need most.
  • You'll have lots of personal attention from our fully qualified teachers, so you can be sure our methods and materials are the best for you.
  • You can study for international qualifications like PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS or Trinity Speaking Exams.
  • The school's philosophy: learning English can be easy and fun. Their goal is to make your experience 100% positive.

Teachers

The teachers are professional, friendly, experienced experts. They also train new teachers so you can be sure of their high level of expertise. You'll receive a lot of personal attention in and outside the class, too. There are regular tests and tutorials to update you on your progress.

Social Programme

The school has an exciting scocial programme where you will be able to use all the English that you learn.

You will have the opportunity to make friends, have fun and experience English culture and entertainment.

There are different afternoon and evening activities organised every week in Bristol. These include visits to museums, city tours, BBQs, karaoke, international food parties, pub nights, cinema evenings, concerts and more.

Most of the activities are free, or inexpensive, and there are visits every Saturday to places like London, Oxford, Bath, Stonehenge and Cardiff.

The Social Programme board and website will keep you up to date with the latest activities.

Accommodation

Homestay

The school's accommodation officer carefully selects homestay families to make sure that they safe, welcoming and caring.

There is not one particular type of family  - some are families with children, or couples, some are single people living alone - but they are all keen to make foreign students feel welcome, and will make you feel as happy and as comfortable as possible. You will have your own room with a study area, unless you ask to share.

You will live as one of the family with regular contact with English speakers. Homes are usually 10-30 minutes from the school on foot or by bus.

Living with a host family is certainly the best way to experience British lifestyle and improve your English.

  • Full Board - The family provides your breakfast, evening meal, and a packed lunch. This means all of your meals are provided for you during your stay.
  • Half Board - The host will provide your breakfast and evening meal.
  • Self Catering - You buy and cook your own food during your stay.

You can also have the option of either full board or self-catering residence (not with a host family). This will depend on season and availability.
