Barcelona is a big, lively city with a huge number of attractions, from its medieval city centre to its stunning modernist architecture. It has dozens of museums including one dedicated to Picasso, another to Miró and even one to Barcelona's world famous football club, Barça!

Barcelona is almost as lively at night as it is during the day and it has a unique, exciting atmosphere, which provides the visitor with a truly unforgettable experience.

The city enjoys an almost perfect climate making it an ideal place to be at any time of the year. And for the beach lovers, it has its own 4 kilometres of sandy beaches less than 15 minutes away from the school.

The city's geographical position also makes it the easiest Spanish city to reach from the rest of Europe with direct flights from most cities in the world.

The School

Founded in 1972, the Barcelona school is one of the longest established and most successful Spanish language schools in Spain. It is known internationally for its innovative teacher-training centres.
Barcelona's Spanish language school is situated in the centre of the city - less than 5 minutes’ walk from the Plaza Catalunya. 

The school occupies 6 floors of a large corner building dating from the beginning of the last century and has many attractive features.

Facilities

The language school's facilities include:

  • 40 air-conditioned classrooms, all with natural light
  • An Internet room with free Internet access for our students
  • Wireless Internet access for students bringing a suitably equipped laptop
  • A library and study centre
  • A bar which is open all day providing hot and cold food and drinks
  • A terrace where students can relax in the sunshine
  • Bathroom facilities for disabled students

Social Programme

The school organises a varied programme of social activities for their Spanish students. These include parties, visits and excursions to places of interest in and around Barcelona, DVD films in Spanish, concerts by local musicians, and Language-Exchange Evenings where students can meet and talk with other students who are learning English, French or German in the school.

There are also student nights out twice a month to experience some of Barcelona's unforgettable nightlife and full-day excursions to towns and places of interest outside the city.

  • Wednesday: Visit to Gaudi's 'Sagrada Familia'
  • Thursday: Visit to the Picasso Museum

Accommodation

Homestay

All Spanish host families live in flats, as there are practically no individual houses in Barcelona. Most families live near the school and are rarely more than 20 minutes away by public transport. Very occasionally, a family may be up to 30 minutes from the school as some of the most elegant districts of Barcelona are on the edge of the city.

Shared Furnished Apartments

You can also share an apartment with other students.

All apartments are centrally located, approximately 10-20 minutes from the school on foot or by public transport. The minimum period is usually 4 weeks.

Student Residence Accommodation

July, August and September only

Accommodation is available in two student residences in Barcelona. Single, double or triple rooms are available. Students can choose bed and breakfast or half board (bed, breakfast and evening meal).

Residence 1: Colegio Mayor San Jordi

The San Jordi University Residence is situated about 20 minutes from the school, in a very smart part of the city. It is near restaurants, bars and has some of the most exclusive shops in Barcelona.

Residence 2: Residencia de Estudiantes Roca

The residence is in a very smart part of the city between 20 and 25 minutes from the school. There are shops, bars and restaurants a few minutes’ walk away in adjoining streets.
