  • Learn Spanish in Spain and do an internship in Barcelona, Seville, San Sebastian or Valencia
  • Learn French in France and do an internship in Nice or Toulouse
  • Study Italian in Italy and do an internship in Rome or Milan

Today, with fewer students learning languages, speaking a foreign language at a high level is definitely a plus in the job market.

Our partner language schools have put together some great long term language programmes in top destinations. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or already speak the language, you’ll make  progress – fast.

Many of the language courses can be combined with an internship in a local business where you can get valuable work experience and practise your language in a professional context.

Not only will the experience help you to get your CV noticed, you’ll make new friends from all over the world, discover a new country and culture and have fun inside and outside the classroom.

In some desinations, we can also help you find student work in hotels or restaurants, or an  au-pair job to help you pay for your language courses.

Internships

Here at Crossroads Languages we work with our partner language schools to provide programmes that combine language courses with an internship in local companies.

The work component is designed to help you practise your language while learning the skills you need in the work place.

This is considered to be a training period and is not paid. The minimum programme is usually a 4-week language course followed by a 4-week internship.

The schools provide support during the student's internship. The student can also keep the same accommodation during the language course and the internship, and take part in all school activities.

If you are and member of the EC and you want to learn an EC language, then you may be able to get funding for this programme, but plan well ahead. Contact us for information about EU funding for languages and internships.

Where can I do an internship ?

We have five centres in Spain for Spanish with an internship, or you can brush up your Italian and do an internship in Rome or Milan, or improve your French and do a work placement in Toulouse or Nice.

For students who want to learn English, we have English and Internship programmes in England, Ireland, the USA, Canada and Australia.

Some schools also offer unpaid internships without language courses.

How much will it cost?

Each language school has their own price for the language + internship programme.

You will pay for:

  • the language course - which start around 150€ per week depending on the school
  • accommodation - a host family will cost from 110€ per week
  • placement fee - usually from 400€

But please see details for each school on the right.

Funding : Leonardo da Vinci

Au-pair/paid summer jobs - Learn a language and earn money

Some of our partner language schools can arrange summer work in a hotel or restaurant. This work is mainly in tourist areas, and usually limited to the summer months.

We work with language schools in Ireland, Spain and France which have au-pair programme, where you can live with a family to help with light house work and children, in exchange for 'pocket money'.

Both the paid work and au-pair programmes require you to do a language course.

In most schools you take a minimum of 4 weeks' language followed by paid work.  (See individual schools for details.)

All Crossroads partners are either accredited, responsible language schools, or recognized work experience providers.
