TEFL training. If you want to teach English as a foreign language (EFL) as a profession, or even just to help you to travel for a few years, then you need to train.

What is TESOL ?
TESOL is Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. It’s similar to ELT or TEFL, but in the United States TESOL is used more than TEFL or ELT.TESOL is also the name of the US professional association for Teachers of English to Speakers of other Languages.
Choosing your first qualification in TEFL
Which qualifications will give you the basic skills and knowledge needed for my first post as a teacher?
Most ELT professionals would agree that there are only 2 qualifications that are recognised world-wide : the Cambridge CELTA and Trinity College CertTESOL.
CELTA
Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults
The CELTA is awarded by Cambridge ESOL, part of the University of Cambridge.
This is the most respected and internationally recognised TEFL qualification in the world today.
More people take the CELTA as their first TEFL or TESOL qualification than any other TEFL qualification in the world.
Over 10,000 people take it each year.
There are 286 approved centres in 54 countries. hey provide almost 900 CELTA courses every year.
See list of left for more about the CELTA. Go to CELTA section on the right for information about centres and providers.
CertTESOL
Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
The CertTesol is awarded by Trinity College, London
The Trinity College CertTESOL has become a popular alternative to the CELTA. It is considered by many to be equivalent to the CELTA, as both involve the same number of training hours and cover similar syllabuses.
Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in the UK
Both the CELTA and the CertTESOL are accredited by the QCA, the regulatory body for examinations and qualifications in the UK. Accreditation by the QCA means that the qualification is given a level in the National Qualifications Framework and that it is a formally recognised qualification in the UK.
Bristish Council
The CELTA and CertTESOL are the only two TEFL qualifications listed by the British Council as acceptable introductory teaching qualifications that meet their standards and requirements.
**See other sections on this page for more information on these qualifications, teaching English and the British Council.
